Hi all,

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended the magazine launch on Friday - it was lovely to see so many people supporting our publication and a huge congratulations to those with there work published.

As I am sure you all know this would not have been possible without our editor - Ben Jaffe so thank you Ben!

If anyone is interested in being involved in the magazine next year please get in touch with Ben -

1. Documentary Screening - The Gromit Room - SU - Tuesday 13th - 18.30
In lieu of a talk, this Tuesday we'll be hosting a screening of 'Finding Vivian Maier' in the Gromit Room. 18:30 as usual.

Who is Vivian Maier? Now considered one of the 20th century's greatest street photographers, Vivian Maier was a mysterious nanny who secretly took over 100,000 photographs that went unseen during her lifetime. Since buying her work by chance at auction, amateur historian John Maloof has crusaded to put this prolific photographer in the history books. Maier's strange and riveting life and art are revealed through never-before-seen photographs, films, and interviews with dozens who thought they knew her. (c) IFC

4. AGM -save the date! - Gromit room, SU - Tuesday 20th March
In this event you we will elect next year's committee and this will be your chance to take a committee role.

Any member can run for any position so don't be shy, you do not have to be an expert in photography to help with the running of the society! We also need to make up quorum, so if you've enjoyed being involved this year, come along and vote to help us achieve the same for next year.

We will start the event going over what we've done this year, then we will initiate the election process. The process is simple, the current position holder will start by providing a brief explanation on what the role requires. Following that we will ask all candidates to tells us why they are the best fit for the role, and then members will vote on their favourite candidate.

Here are the committee roles that need to be filled (this is the order of roles that the election will run in):

- President
- Treasurer
- Vice-president/Secretary
- Talks Manager
- Equipment Manager
- Darkroom Manager
- Competitions & Exhibition Officer
- Magazine Editor
- Events Team Manager
- Trips Officer
- Social Secretary
- Webmaster (includes managing the Media Suite mac)
- Social Media and Publicity Officer

This event is also a good opportunity to mingle with other photography lovers, and enjoy some FREE PIZZA! So do come along!

P.S.: The more people that confirm attendance on Facebook, the more Pizza we will have! Facebook event link here:

***If you are unable to go to the AGM but still wish to be in the committee for next year, send the president an email with a short description about yourself and why you're the best person for your chosen role and a picture, so that this can be added to the powerpoint presentation.
