We are proud to announce the winners of our Christmas competition theme - Story.
We haven't had that many entries guys, but the ones we got were pretty good and our judges enjoyed marking them. You will however notice that this time we only had out 4 core judges doing all the marking. That's because deadlines and coursework got slightly in the way. I do apologise for that and promise that it won't happen again. Luckily it hasn't affected the marks at all as the more mathematically talented members of the committee have adjusted the marks to fit our usual scheme (where 50 is the total points you can receive for your entry).
So the winners of "Story" theme are:
1st place - Temi Gocheva for her "Sunday Afternoon"
2nd place - Nick Fyson for "It has been my experience that those with no vices have very few virtues"
3rd place - Rebecca Knight for "From Ground to Gallop - the perfect partnership"
Congratulations to the winners and well done everyone for sending us your little projects! You can find all the entries with judges' comments here:

Just to explain - the competitions are judged by four core judges from the committee (Our Vice President - Charlie, Treasurer - Matt, Equipment Manager - Niall and myself - the Competitions Officer) plus normally a guest judge . Your photos receive marks out of ten in three categories: Composition, Technical Expertise and Originality. You then get a comment from each judge in which they say what they like or dislike about your picture. Sometimes you will also get advice on how they think you could improve your photo. Then you get an Overall Mark which is independent from the three categories listed above and reflects the judge's overall impression. The sum of all the judge's overall marks is the points you collect in this years competition. At the end of the year there will be prizes for those with most points plus for many other categories!
Don't forget that the our next theme's deadline is the 7th of February and that the theme is "Black and White".
Happy snapping,
Olga
Competitions and Exhibitions Officer
