1. Events Team: First Event - Tonight & More

After a horribly slow start to the term we have finally confirmed some events worthy of bringing you guys along to photograph! The idea behind the Events Team is that we go along to events of all kinds; plays, gigs, debates, clubs, performances, sport, weddings, and teach you how to take quality photos in a professional environment and work well with people, with an aim to eventually have you up to a standard where you can earn money from your work. No need to have prior experience or even the right kit, hopefully we can help you with both! (And we can definitely guarantee kit! :D)

First up is short notice but a good start to learn how to deal with people! The charity SSSK (www.sssk.org.uk/) is holding a Blind Date night tonight and has invited us along to the afterparty at Warehouse to get shots of the happy couples. Our aim is to get good photos in a tricky (dark and slightly drunken) environment. This involves playing with flash and good people skills. We'll be working a couple of hours from 9:30-11:30pm.

Also coming up this week is Churchill Hall's Snow Ball on Friday 28th Nov. They've already spent more than £5k on lighting and decorations and rather than standard, night out, photography they're looking for something that captures the atmosphere and mood a little better. We'll be playing with long exposures and a little studio gear if we can!

We have 2 places for each night so if you are interested in coming along just give me a shout at events@ubuphotosoc.com. In the future Events Team news will be sent out only to the Events Team mailing list, so if you aren't already on it (you didnt tick any of the boxes on signup) and would like to be give me a shout at the same address.
